This 2-day clinic is designed for women looking to take their paddling through the surf zone and to the open coast! We begin the weekend with an introduction to the surf zone. Students learn about wave dynamics and beach characteristics and how to identify hazards. We will practice laughing and landing through the surf zone safely, bracing on breaking waves and holding position. The evening will be spent in the quaint Marin Headlands Hostel where we will provide a delicious dinner.
On day 2, we will embark on a coastal journey heading out under the Golden Gate Bridge and along the Marin headlands. Using the conditions of the day, we will work on learning and applying strokes relevant to maneuvering in the open coast environment, as well as water reading and use of environmental features in rock gardens. Your instructors will lead a discussion risk assessment and challenge you think about what to do if things do not go to plan.
This weekend is an introduction to paddling the open coast and all that lies beyond San Fransisco Bay!
This clinic is designed for paddlers with some formal training (i.e. a full-day introduction to sea kayaking class) and a working knowledge of sea kayak rescue techniques. Learn new skills and build confidence on the water!
