Getting ready for competing at Santa Cruz Paddlfest, interested in taking your surf kayak skills to the next level, or starting for the first time? This clinic will break into two groups to cover both beginner and intermediate skills. While one group gets a crash course in surf zone dynamics, catching a wave, and etiquette, the other group will cover strategies for wave selection and drills for practicing more committed moves. Previous surfing and paddling experience necessary. If you need to borrow a surf kayak, you must indicate this when registering for the clinic. You are required to supply your own personal kit including a wetsuit or drysuit, PFD, helmet, and paddle.
Please note: You are welcome to use whitewater kayaks for this class and we have access to composite surf kayaks for demo. If you do not have a consistent roll, do not despair, we can help provide you with a Dagger Kaos sit-on-top surf kayak for an additional $20.
